We all have many needs, but what is your greatest need and how thankful would you be to have that need met by God?
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. – Philippians 4:19,20.
When considering uncertain times ahead, it’s always comforting to rest in the certainty of this verse. My God SHALL supply ALL your needs. Paul was speaking to the Philippians who gave so generously in their own poverty, but this is a wonderful truth to us too. This does not mean the path is always smooth, or that we will never be faced with hardships. But when we have those needs, God will be our supply.
What this doesn’t mean is that God will give us everything we want. There is a difference between our needs and wants. We may WANT to be on holiday, breathing in the sea breeze on a beautiful beach, but your real NEED is to breathe. You may WANT to make a big name for yourself, but you NEED to be known by God more than anything else.
God knows what we really need and has always been described as our provider (Genesis 22:14). When we walk with God, He supplies our needs in many different ways. He supplies the ability to work and causes the increase for our labour.
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. – 2 Corinthians 9:10,11.
We are far more than just flesh and blood and our needs go further than the physical. God also knows and supplies our spiritual needs.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ – Ephesians 1:3
You may wonder why God allows us to be in need at all. In times of true need, we get on our knees and seek God, knowing that we cannot depend on the things of this world. People make promises they cannot keep, but only God’s word is certain and true. If our needs force us into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father, then we gain more than just our immediate need.
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ – Isaiah 41:10
He chases away fear with His presence. Feelings of despondency melt away in the knowledge of who He is and we are made strong. God is Jehovah Jireh our provider, who promises to always be there to keep us and uphold when we turn to Him. What more do we really need?
Be mightily blessed
