We serve a God of love and justice
The stories of evil and injustice are constantly hitting the headlines and leaving many with a sense of hopelessness. In times like these, we need to focus our attention on our God of love and justice.
For I proclaim the name of the Lord:
Ascribe greatness to our God.
4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He. – Deuteronomy 32:3,4
God has made us in His image and He is a God of love and justice in equal measure. Because of sin in the world due to the fall of Adam, someone had to pay the price to maintain justice. The price for sin is death, so God sent His own son to pay the price, because God’s desire to love matched His desire for justice. He gives His own righteousness to those who accept Him as Lord and saviour, in an act of great mercy and grace.
When we see injustice, we should have a desire to put it right, because we were made in the image of the God of justice.
I believe man’s inhumanity toward his fellow man, will rise as we get closer to Christ’s return. But we must make a stand against evil and for God’s justice which is firm and unchanging.
Men often have a way of doing evil in the name of justice. They may show partiality to one group over another, such as in the evil of racism, but that is not God’s way or intention and it should never be found in those who follow him.
Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. 35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. -Acts 10:34,35
If Christ is in you, then the character of Christ will be seen coming out of you in your words and actions.
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself,” you do well; 9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. – James 2:8,9.
It is God’s desire that men and women from all nations, tribes and colours should come together as part of one family in His name. It is also His desire to see righteousness on earth, which we can see in His plan for the future.
Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. – 2 Peter 3:13
We serve a God of faithfulness and without injustice, who is good and upright. We too must endeavour to show those qualities and ask God to strengthen us in this cause. One day we will all stand before the God of love and justice. Until then, do not be disturbed by the evil we see, but stand up for truth and justice, in the strength God gives you.
